3 students standing in front of a school

Today, staff released the initial draft of the 2027-28 student enrollment proposal, which includes proposed school assignment changes. This is the start of a community conversation, and families will have several opportunities to learn more, ask questions, and provide feedback before a final decision is made.

The Board of Education is expected to vote on the final plan Nov. 17. For details and updates throughout the process, visit wcpss.net/2027enrollmentproposal.

Why are the changes being proposed?

The proposal supports the opening of Morrisville High, aligns feeder patterns in several areas, and helps relieve crowding. These updates will help more students attend a less crowded school and shorten some bus routes.

The current proposal allows some students to apply to stay at their current school, without district transportation, through a stability transfer. Review the stability rules.

How can I share feedback and ask questions?

Share your feedback and questions through ThoughtExchange until Oct. 4. This online forum allows staff, Board members, and fellow parents to see your questions and feedback.

Staff will review and consider all feedback and determine if any changes are needed to the initial draft. A final plan will be reviewed on Oct. 20 and voted on during the Board meeting on Nov. 17.
